Report

The first game started with some great early defensive play from Harry and Rhys as it looked like Sandy Lane were going to be stiff competition.

There were 5 near misses from the Dudley Hill attacking and midfield (a combination from Calum, Rhys and Joel), which Sandy Lane replied with a very good shot on goal, which was well saved by James.

Rhys then responded with a great run with the ball and another close miss from Dudley Hill….. this really was end to end stuff from both teams.

The match was also giving many opportunities for Dudley Hill to practice their corners. The boys did well, but still couldn’t find the back of the net. Every time Sandy Lane were on the ball they looked dangerous, great defensive play was needed from Jodi and Harry. Back at the other end of the pitch, George had a great strike that was just tip onto the cross bar by the Sandy Lane Goal keeper. After a bit more open play, the best player from Sandy Lane was fouled by Calum and Harry in the box and a penalty was given. James did well in goal to almost stop it, but the fouled played scored and Dudley Hill where losing 1-0. After another few shots just wide of the target, Dudley Hill Just couldn’t find that net!

The second game started with better fortune for Dudley Hill, when Sandy lane scored an own goal,1-1. Joel narrowly missed from plenty of good set piece play. George then had a few brilliant shots just miss the target, surley there was a goal to come for him soon…. It didn’t look like the late night from his mum and dad’s wedding had affected his play… George was on fire! Jack was creating good passes and getting in space well and Keiran was also enjoying getting stuck in.

Great team pressure and some great play from Harry and Jack ended up with Dominic scoring to make it 2-1 to Dudley hill after Joel’s shot was saved and Dominic was there to score on the rebound.

Dudley hill continue to show some great play, with Harry having to making some great passes and tackles. The attacking continued and resulted in a goal line scramble and Joel was on hand to score. 3-1 to Dudley Hill.

Jodi made a brave save towards the end where he took some studs in the face for his team mates, and stood up to throw the ball away safely…… final whistle … a good team win for Dudley Hill…..3-1, and MOTM was well deserved for Harry.

Many thanks to Kirsty Thornton for the match report. A good productive weekend for the under 7's Well done boys
